Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 May 2026
This policy explains how Project Will Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), trading as Become An Estate Planner, collects and uses personal data when you use becomeanestateplanner.co.uk, take our Free Course, enrol on the Coached Programme, or subscribe to WILLO software.
We are the data controller for this site and these services. We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are and how to reach us
Project Will Ltd is a company registered in England & Wales, trading as Become An Estate Planner.
For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact us at info@becomeanestateplanner.co.uk or on 0333 049 5033.
What we collect
We collect personal data in a few different ways:
- Account & registration data. When you sign up for the Free Course or any of our paid services we collect your name and email address. If you book a call we may also collect your phone number.
- Lead-capture form data. Where you fill out an enquiry or "Start the free course" form, we collect the information you submit (typically name, email, sometimes phone).
- Course activity. Lessons viewed, modules completed, quiz scores, and notes you make inside the training portal. This is to deliver the service and show you your progress.
- Payment data. If you enrol on a paid programme or subscribe to WILLO, our payment processor (typically Stripe) collects payment details directly. We do not store full card numbers on our servers; we receive a transaction reference and the limited metadata needed for accounting.
- Communications. When you email or call us, we keep a record of that correspondence so we can pick up the thread next time you contact us.
- Technical data. IP address, browser type, device information, and pages visited — collected via cookies and standard web logs (see section 7).
Why we use your data and our lawful basis
The UK GDPR requires us to have a lawful basis for each purpose. Ours are:
- To provide the service you've signed up for — delivering course access, processing your payments, sending the lesson reminders and account notices you'd expect. Lawful basis: contract.
- To support you — replying to your emails, returning your calls, dealing with technical issues. Lawful basis: contract / legitimate interests.
- To send you marketing about our own training and software — for example, telling existing students about the Coached Programme. You can opt out at any time via the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, or consent where required.
- To improve the service — analysing aggregated, mostly de-identified usage data so we know which lessons need rewriting and where students get stuck. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
- To comply with our legal obligations — keeping accounting records, responding to regulators, dealing with legal claims. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
Who we share your data with
We don't sell your personal data. We only share it with the following types of third party, and only as much as they need to do their job:
- Payment processors — Stripe (or an equivalent) to take card payments and manage subscriptions.
- Email and CRM platforms — to send you transactional and (where you've consented) marketing emails, and to keep our records of who's enrolled on what.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — the cloud providers who run the website, the training portal and WILLO software on our behalf.
- Analytics providers — to understand how the site is used (see section 7).
- Professional advisors — accountants, lawyers and insurers, where there's a need to involve them.
- Authorities — where we're legally required to share data (e.g. court orders, HMRC, regulators).
Each of these processors is bound by contracts that require them to handle your data securely and only on our instructions.
International transfers
Some of our processors are based outside the UK or EEA — for example, US-based cloud or analytics providers. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on the UK government's adequacy regulations or, where those don't apply, on the International Data Transfer Agreement / Standard Contractual Clauses, plus additional safeguards where required.
How long we keep your data
We don't keep personal data longer than we need to. Typical retention periods:
- Account & course data: for as long as your account is active.
- Financial records: at least 6 years from the end of the relevant financial year, to meet HMRC requirements.
- Marketing data: until you unsubscribe, or until the data has been inactive long enough that we consider it stale.
- Enquiry / lead data: typically up to 24 months from the last interaction, then deleted unless you've become a paying student.
- Server logs: typically 30–90 days.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for three things:
- Strictly necessary — keeping you logged in, remembering form progress, basic security. These don't need consent.
- Analytics — understanding aggregate usage of the site so we can improve it.
- Marketing — measuring whether our adverts are working, where applicable.
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies via our cookie banner the first time you visit, change your choice via the cookie controls, and delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the following rights, exercisable free of charge:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data, where there's no overriding reason for us to keep it.
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing while we look into a concern.
- Portability — ask us to send your data to you (or another provider) in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests, including marketing.
- Withdraw consent — where we rely on consent (such as marketing), withdraw it at any time.
- Automated decisions — we don't make decisions about you using purely automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@becomeanestateplanner.co.uk. We aim to respond within one calendar month.
Marketing
If you've enrolled with us, we may send you information about closely related services such as the Coached Programme or the WILLO software. Every marketing email contains a one-click unsubscribe link.
Where you haven't yet enrolled but have signed up for marketing (for example via a lead-capture form), we send marketing emails on the basis of your consent and you can withdraw it at any time.
Security
We protect personal data with industry-standard measures: TLS encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, separation of payment data via PCI-compliant providers, and regular review of our processors.
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever became aware of a personal-data breach affecting you, we'd notify you and the ICO as required by law.
Children
Our services are aimed at adults considering an estate planning career. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has registered, please contact us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Where changes materially affect how we use your data, we will give reasonable notice.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please tell us first — we'd much rather fix it directly. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
